Nursery & Childcare

We provide Nursery Care for children from age 6 weeks - 3 years (we use the September 1st cutoff to promote children to Preschool FaithWalk).

Regular Sunday nursery hours:

     8:30 a.m. - noon
     4:45 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Our goal is to provide a nurturing Christian environment with quality facilities and a well-trained staff. Our staff includes a paid Childcare Supervisor, paid Childcare Workers and adult and youth volunteers from the congregation. Paid staff has training and/or experience in Early Childhood education.

When you drop your child off in the nursery please follow the sign in procedures: fill out a nametag, use the hand sanitizer, and take a pager (optional, but encouraged for very young children).

Childcare is available by prior arrangement for children grade 5 and younger whose parents are attending meetings, classes or other events at the church. Contact Childcare Supervisor Kim Wagner via email or phone (651-633-7644 ext. 24) at least one week in advance.  See our Nursery Brochure!

Sunday Classes for Children

Centennial offers FaithWalk (our name for “Sunday School”) classes for children from age 3 (as of Sept. 1) through Grade 5. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from September through May.

Sunday Morning FaithWalk begins in worship. All children go to worship with their families at 10:30 a.m. Children stop at the Nametag Table each week before going into worship and pick up their colored clip-on nametag.  Children are excused from the sanctuary following the Time With Children. Classes run until 11:45 a.m.

Children in Grades K-5 spend 4 weeks exploring a single Bible story through a variety of hands-on experiences. This Sunday school model is known as Workshop Rotation. Each class has 1 or 2 adult Class Leaders who are with them all year and travel with them to each of the workshops. The Workshop Leaders are visited by a different class each week. Workshops include music, cooking, science, computer, storytelling, art, movies, and games. You can read more in our FaithWalk Brochure. Check the bulletin board, the display board in the east entryor the current ParentLink for the weekly schedule.

Preschool children will explore the same Bible stories as the Rotation but will stay in the same room with the same team of teachers for the whole year. Their activities will include music, art, games, and more.

Milestone Ministry

Centennial’s Milestone Ministry celebrates the firsts of our faith life such as beginning Sunday School and receiving a Bible, and also provides opportunities to each class to explore topics like worship, prayer, baptism, communion and service. Children receive a special milestone pin in worship to mark the occasion.

Milestone Events are designed as parent-child together time and usually begin with a noon lunch on a Sunday. Following the meal children and parents enjoy about an hour of interactive learning time together. See our brochure for more information. Milestones we celebrate at Centennial include:

  • Age 3: Children enjoy a Welcome to FaithWalk party on Saturday and receive a Bible Story Book in worship the next day.

  • Age 4: Prayer - Learning to pray together, including family prayers for all occasions.

  • Kindergarten: Touch & See My Church - A chance to explore the sanctuary “behind the scenes” and learn more about worship.

  • Grade 1: Touch the Water - Learning about the sacrament of Baptism.

  • Grade 2: Taste the Bread - Learning about Holy Communion.

  • Grade 3: A Bible of My Own - Learning about the Bible and how to use it.

  • Grade 4: Worship Around the Year - Learning about worship & the liturgical calendar.

  • Grade 5: Heart of a Servant - Learning about and practicing service to the world in Christ’s name.

All children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades are encouraged to join us for our monthly activities. Brochures are available with details about the year’s plans and sign ups are posted on the Children & Family bulletin board.

Being part of Zone 345 helps to build relationships with kids in your class and those a year younger or older. These are friendships that we hope will continue to grow as you move on to Middle School and Senior High youth activities. Zone 345 is all about friends, faith and fun! Get in the Zone!
